A New Car and Anime We’ve Been Watching

We finally bought a new car this week. It is a 2026 Toyota Rav 4, and it is a big upgrade from our previous car, a 2016 Nissan Versa. We bought the Versa second-hand from a dealer knowing that it was just going to be a transitional vehicle that we were not going to keep for too long. It served us well, but the engine light came on at around 118,000 miles. We took it to the mechanic, and they took a while to diagnose the issue, but once they did, the costs of repairs was just not worth it, so we decided to trade it in and buy a new car. Buying a new car was something that my wife and I had planned for a while now, but we were expecting to buy one in early 2027 after our upcoming trip to the Philippines. The Rav 4 has been great. Outside of our Hyundai Tucson in the Philippines, the cars that I’ve owned haven’t had the rear camera, the touch screen, and all the other technological advances. This car is a lot bigger as it is a compact SUV and much bigger than the sedans that I’ve owned so far, and I’m still getting used to parking. Otherwise, this has just been a great purchase.

My wife and I have been watching a few fantasy anime together: Though I Am an Inept Villainess, Reincarnated as a Slime, Re: Zero and Black Clover. We actually completed the latest seasons of Though I Am an Inept Villainess, Reincarnated as a Slime and Re: Zero, and all of them are very good in their own ways. Currently, we are watching Black Clover together, and this one is nice because I have not watched it either, unlike the other ones, so everything will be new and fresh for me. We just came off of finishing the Chinese television drama series: The Story of Yangzhi Palace, so watching Though I Am an Inept Villainess has many similarities except with magic and a Freaky Friday premise. The main character’s optimism and positive outlook are infectious. Reincarnated as a Slime just had one of its best season cours yet with the reveal that one of the characters has been time travel and introducing a multiverse. Re:Zero also had a strong season covering and finishing the “Loss Arc” and “Recapture Arc” in the light novels. A major character has finally woken up, but not without complications, and some characters did not make it by the end. So far, we have only watched the first episode of Black Clover, and we liked it and will continue it. With the first four seasons covering 170 episodes, and a fifth season just starting, we have a long way to go.
