Knott’s Scary Farm and UFC 333; Volkanovaki vs. Evloev
My wife and I went with family to Knott’s Scary Farm. It was my first time going despite having gone to Knott’s Berry Farm a few times before. It was a lot of fun, and my wife had a few fun situations happen to her. We got there before everything opened up, but once it started, then they had an opening performance. Once everything opened up, then many actors dressed as monsters roamed about, and they did a good job scary the patrons. It was neat because just about everywhere you went, there was always potential to run into them. A monster with a pig’s head followed my wife, who got scared, then she said something in her native tongue of tagalog. Funny enough, the actor responded back in tagalog. We went to some of the mazes. One of them was a cinema. A female zombie approached my wife and scared her, then she whispered that she loves her job. My wife responded with “you’re doing a good job,” and the actress said “thank you.” In line for one of the gold mine mazes, zombie prospectors would approach the patrons, but they just came out of nowhere. They would blend in with everyone but eventually make their move. Overall, it was a fun experience, and they put a lot of effort into the whole thing.
I also watched UFC 333: Volkanovski vs. Evloev, and I thought that it was a solid event overall. Some fights were just okay with some a stinker or two, but the rest was good to great. The main event delivered with Volkanovski, at 38-years-old, defeating then-undefeated Movsar Evloev by TKO in the second round. Considering his age, fight mileage and who he was fighting, this was no small feat for Volkanovski. He set some records with this win, and it looks like he will fight again. In the co-main event, Petr Yan won the trilogy bout against previous Bantamweight Champion, Merab Dvalishvili. This was the Fight on the Night with Merab winning the first two rounds, then Yan winning the last three. Once Yan got going, he looked so crisp with strikes to the head and body, and he utilized punches, kicks, knees and even jump kicks. I think that Yan rematches Sean O’Malley next. Other standout performances came from Aaron Pico, Dominick Reyes, Lone'er Kavanagh and Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev.
