Young Washington and the Summer 2026 Anime Season

My wife and I watched the movie, Young Washington, and we really liked it. William Franklyn-Miller played a young George Washington with enthusiasm and vigor, and the Washington character in the movie was assertive, ambitious and took the initiative even in situations of extreme risk. His early years were interesting, especially knowing that he initially wanted to fight for the British army. His initial opponents were the French and the Indians, and he fought against them in order to be a ranked British soldier. Washington was a surveyor, but the movie made it clear that he was destined for much greater things. The actions scenes were very well-done, and while there was some strong exaggeration, there was a grittiness to the action. The way that they fought back then was quite honestly ridiculous, but I did learn about their battle methods with soldiers at times just standing there. It is good to see that Washington learned from his enemies and his losses how to fight smarter, and it really helped him out at the end. It looks like there will have a sequel called “1776,” and I look forward to seeing it.

The new season of anime came out, and there are a lot of sequel title such as: You and I are Polar Opposites, The Saga of Tanya the Evil, The Elusive Samurai, Hell Mode, Mushoku Tensei, Clevatess, Samurai Troopers and others. Besides that, there are some series that were ongoing from last season, and new stuff as well. I have a problem of watching a lot of “mid” fantasy anime, whether it is isekai or just traditional high fantasy, and I told myself that I would stop this season. However, that just did not happen. I realized that these “mid” fantasy series are very ‘easy,’ fun and simple entertainment that I need at times. I don’t have to think very hard, and they provide just enough action and enjoyment to keep me entertained. Quite honestly, my own novel, The Mustard Prince in the Condiment Kingdom, was written to be like that. The good thing is that this season has a lot a mix of easy titles along with series that really needs to be paid attention to.
